late summer I started closing the studio in for winter. There were still some larger gaps to be filled in. I used insulation, chicken wire and daub to cover. I also insulated the walls. In the last video I was talking about my work station for making baskets, in this video you can see what I did to upgrade that and how I work now. We also installed the stove and the French doors! Lovely to see you again! I'm hoping to plant a willow hedge to keep the cows and deer out. We're in a drier climate, we have a few months of no rain or irrigation water, so maybe I'll have to use something that acts similar to willow with a lower water need. And of course, it will need more protection from the grazing animals at first.

It is lovely to see you again. Thanks to you, I planted a living willow fence this spring and it is growing well now. Your channel is a great inspiration. It is so important to take the time you need. My kids are growing into their adult phase now, too, and moving out. It feels so different and as you described it so well: once everything calms down and you don't need to be so hands-on all the time, you realize HOW tired you really are. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and also your beautiful craft :)

It looks like it is better to dry the willow standing? If you were drying smaller quantities, can it be laid on its side to dry? Also how long does it need to dry ? I have often been impatient & not allowed my willow to dry long before making something & that later shrinkage shows. Once dry it is good for how many year's? On your steaming video, it looked like you soaked prior to steaming? Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge!
